Several aspects to consider when selecting gas sources for pneumatic conveying

      In pneumatic conveying, the gas source serves as the core equipment of the entire system, providing power to the entire system and ensuring the effectiveness and reliability of pneumatic conveying. Due to the different methods, usage locations, and conveying distances of pneumatic conveying, the characteristics of the conveyed materials are different, so the power and principles of pneumatic conveying are also different.

    Common air source equipment includes air compressors, Roots blowers, Roots vacuum pumps, centrifugal fans, etc. Regardless of which type of equipment is chosen as the power source for the system, the following aspects should be considered:

    1. According to the conveying conditions, fully meet the required air volume and pressure requirements: Due to changes in the physical properties of the conveyed materials, changes in environmental climate and humidity, and losses in the equipment used, the functionality of the pneumatic conveying system may decrease; So when choosing a gas source, there should be a certain margin based on the calculated air volume and pressure according to the design;

    2. Changes in pressure and air volume will also vary accordingly; The change in pressure and the drastic change in induced airflow can cause blockage of the pipeline when the velocity inside the pipe drops; The increase in velocity inside the pipeline will increase the pressure required for transportation, accelerate pipeline wear and material crushing; Due to the wide working range of the pneumatic system, the required pressure for conveying is several times higher than that for pure airflow conveying, ensuring that the motor will not overload;

    3. Less sensitivity to dust; To prevent small dust from entering the gas source equipment and causing gas malfunctions;

    4. For the air source equipment of the positive pressure pneumatic conveying system, the oil and moisture in the exhaust should be minimized as much as possible; For pneumatic conveying devices used in chemical and food transportation, due to the strict prohibition of oil in the air, a negative pressure pneumatic conveying system should be adopted, and centrifugal fans, Roots vacuum pumps, or non lubricated reciprocating air compressors can be selected. In any case, air filters and oil-water separators should be used to eliminate oil, moisture, and dust from the air as much as possible.

    5. To be durable and reliable in operation;

    6. Type and properties of the conveying medium used: temperature, humidity, corrosiveness, suction pressure, lubrication conditions, etc;

    7. The installation site, foundation bearing capacity, area, height restrictions, surrounding temperature, and installation conditions for entry and exit;

    8. Operation management control and monitoring: automatic control, remote control, on-site control;

    9. Meet environmental protection requirements and noise restrictions.

   The selection of air source equipment for pneumatic conveying systems is complex, with high requirements for air volume, air pressure, and wind speed.
