What are the types of valves in pneumatic conveying?

Valves are control components in pneumatic conveying systems, with functions such as shut-off, regulation, diversion, prevention of backflow, stabilization, diversion or overflow pressure relief. There are various types of valves used in pneumatic conveying system control systems, ranging from simple globe valves to valves used in complex self-control systems. The reasonable selection of valves is crucial in pneumatic conveying systems. Valves need to meet the different needs of different conveying systems and have various excellent characteristics such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance.

So, what are the types of valves in pneumatic conveying systems?

1. Feeding valve

The feeding valve is a component used in pneumatic conveying systems to connect and interrupt materials from the conveying point to the conveying container. The reasonable selection of the diameter of the feed valve greatly affects the flow rate of materials and the conveying capacity of the entire system.

2. Exhaust valve

When the pneumatic conveying system is feeding, the exhaust valve can discharge the air in the system into the feeding bin or flue, so as to facilitate smooth feeding and shorten the feeding time. Air with a small amount of powdered material is its main conveying medium.

3. Valve for intake

The function of the intake valve is similar to that of the exhaust valve, and butterfly valves, ball valves, angle seat valves, and other valves are often selected. The conveying medium of the intake valve is compressed air, so it does not require high wear and corrosion resistance.

4. Valve for discharge

After the conveying equipment is filled with materials, open the inlet valve and outlet valve to allow the materials to be conveyed in the conveying pipeline system under the drive of compressed air. So the medium of the discharge valve is powdered material mixed with compressed air. As discharge valves, there are generally gate valves, ball valves, dome valves, etc.

5. Split valve

The shunt valve can collect materials from multiple points in the pneumatic conveying system to one point or disperse materials from one point to multiple points, playing a role in diversion and convergence. It can be used for pipeline installation and warehouse top installation. Valve components such as ball valves, butterfly valves, or combination valves are often used as branch valves.
