What are the common misconceptions in pneumatic conveying design?

What are the most common errors that occur during the design of pneumatic conveying systems? Below are some common design misconceptions and specific suggestions to avoid them.

1、 Error in pressure calculation of pneumatic conveying system

The most difficult problem in pneumatic conveying is to correctly calculate the pressure drop of the entire system line length. In a pneumatic conveying system, there are various variables such as pipeline diameter, route layout, product density, and material particle size. Pressure issues are crucial in the entire system, and even minor errors can have an overall impact on the system.

2、 Low feed rate in pneumatic conveying system

There is a pressure gradient on the pneumatic conveying system, which refers to the difference in air velocity between one end and the other end. When there is a significant difference in air velocity between the two ends, if the pressure drop through the system is not taken into account, the low pickup speed may not be sufficient to fluidized the product and cause the pickup to become clogged.

3、 Underestimating flow rate in pneumatic conveying system

Design the average flow rate of the pneumatic conveying system, ignoring changes in peak values. Because productivity is not constant in actual production, when the system reaches its peak, the average flow rate originally designed and calculated may not achieve the desired effect, and may even clog the pipeline. So when designing the average flow rate, it is also necessary to calculate the variable of peak capacity, so that the system's delivery capacity can be flexibly adjusted.

4、 Correctly adding exhaust ports in pneumatic conveying

In a dilute phase pneumatic conveying system, if the exhaust port is not added correctly, the entire system may not be able to transport materials to the designated location due to excessive pressure.

5、 Incorrect airflow diversion in pneumatic conveying system

When designing a pneumatic conveying system, if it is in a system with multiple receiving points, it is necessary to design correctly to ensure proper airflow distribution.

6、 Improper filtration in pneumatic conveying system

Exhaust filters and other filtering devices should be used for air emissions rather than conveying air, otherwise it may cause problems with the airflow in the system.

7、 Corrosion of material contact components in pneumatic conveying systems.

Any corrosive or acidic material in the pneumatic conveying system will corrode carbon steel. In order to ensure the stable operation of the system, special treatment should be carried out on the contact parts of the material, using anti-corrosion materials.
