What is the difference in the application scope between centrifugal fans and Roots blowers?
The widely used source equipment in pneumatic conveying are centrifugal fans and Roots blowers. Although both have the word "fan", what are the differences in principles, manufacturing, and parameters between these two types of fans? In general, their differences can be divided into requirements for the location, requirements for manufacturing accuracy, differences in working principles, and differences in main parameters:
The differences between Roots blower and centrifugal fan are as follows:
1、 Requirements for the venue
The characteristic of a centrifugal fan is that its air pressure is relatively low, but its air volume is particularly large, mainly used in pulse dust collectors. On the other hand, a Roots fan is the opposite, with high air pressure and low air volume, suitable for pneumatic conveying equipment, aeration, fish pond oxygenation, etc.
2、 Manufacturing accuracy
The manufacturing accuracy of centrifugal fans is not high, mainly relying on curved blades to provide power; And Roots blowers require high manufacturing accuracy, with two three bladed impellers providing wind pressure.
3、 Differences in Working Principles
Roots blower uses a three bladed impeller to squeeze the wind to the outlet, so the fan pressure is high. Centrifugal blower uses curved blades to send gas to the casing through centrifugal force.
4、 Difference in Parameters
Centrifugal fan is a type of constant pressure fan, whose air pressure remains basically unchanged and has ordinary torque characteristics.
Roots blower is a constant flow fan with the main parameters of low air volume and minimal variation in air volume. In addition, Roots blower has high air pressure, and the conveyed air volume is proportional to the speed
If you need equipment with high air pressure, then choose Roots blower. If you choose equipment with high air volume, choose centrifugal blower. If the load requires constant current, choose Roots blower. Because Roots blower itself is a constant current fan, the main parameter is air volume. The output pressure changes with the pipeline and load, and the air volume changes very little. If a constant pressure effect is required, then a centrifugal fan is chosen because its output air volume varies with changes in the pipeline and load.
